Easterns are more disposed to eating frogs and do not do well in captivity.

Like LdyDrgn said they primarily eat frogs and toads and don't do well. Several people have been able to get them switched to a rodent diet but most of them report a failure of the animal to thrive, probably due to a rodent diet being inappropriate and incomplete nutritionally for them (but that is just my opinion).
IMO Eastern hogs should be enjoyed in the wild ONLY! If you want a hognose, get a western...
