Standard full spectrum flourescent is fine. The frogs don't require special lighting or heat (best kept in the mid-high 70's range, aka room temp). The lights are pretty much for the plants and so you can see in. Wink

If your room is not going below 65 you should be fine with a single flourescent bulb. The buld itself is not going to produce much heat, but the ballast will raise the temp enough to keep it in the ideal range.

I think they are being distributed to professional keepers (zoos et. al.), but they details of who is getting what are not being released...not 100% sure on that though

That would work, but it may be too acidic for some plants to grow in

They are live...Pothos, Alocasia, Dracaena and Selaginella all tolerate the acidic, moist conditions well and are usefull in tanks like that...I think that is whats in the tanks but haven't looked at them lately Embarassed

Most of the local nurseries don't do alot with exotic tropicals, try places like Lowes, Home Depot, et al. They normally have some decent small broms, but be careful with them because most of them will be covered with insecticides and fertilizers...keep them out of the tank for a while to give this stuff time to be used up and/or washed off.
There are a few nurseries here in Louisville that do deal with the more exotic tropicals, but they are going to be expensive and if you are not looking for something specific I would just stick with the stores mentioned above...

Looks like you got the petri dishes right...I'll try to make it over there sometime...possibly tonight, but I gotta go and catch some trout with Donnie first!
I'll give you a call
