| Hey all, I would like to welcome everyone to the forum! It will be slow going at first but, I'm sure that everyone will enjoy posting and networking on here. As a first post I am asking anyone who want to posts their favorite reptile or amphibian pet. I always find it interesting to see what everyone has as their favorite pets. Mine is my Calico Black Ratsnake. I was the second person to have one of these and it is one of my prised animals. This line of snakes acctually originated right here in kentucky! This has been a project of a friend of mine for a long time and ever since I fisrt liad eyes on one, I knew it was a snake that I wanted. I hope you guys enjoy and I can't wait to see what everyone else has to offer! Peter VE | |

| Hello Everyone! I'm Sarah. I frequent Pets Galore often, spreading Red Bull cheer and pestering Peter and Tim in between admiring all the snakes and animals and painting the walls. The desert scene? Yah, thats me. Theres more to come, don't worry. Besides painting the place up, what else do I have to offer? Well, I have a collection of 30 snakes, most of which are ball pythons. Some of the prized subjects of my collection include... Pastel female, 'Sanaa,' produced by Chris Gibson. She's just over 700 grams, by far the best eating snake I have. She only gets one small/med rat every week to 10 days or so. She's a monster... And then we have 'Godiva,' my mojo female... Thats all I'll share for now. | |

| hey all, my name is Caroline, also a pets galore regular. this is Levon my ball python, named for Levon Helm of The Band. he's about twice this size now and gettin' fatter by the day. I also feed my roomate's leopard gecko, Renfield, named for the bug eating Dracula character played by Tom Waits in the movie. pictures to come, he has beautiful coloring. i am a full time tattoo artist just getting back to work and play from a broken leg suffered in a rollerderby bout (hence the user name). i spend my free time with music, drawing, painting, and silkscreening. I'm happy about this forum. Levon is my first long term snake and i have many questions. for instance, bedding preferences and temperature. i use aspen shavings over a tank liner. i've heard pros and cons, but have yet to be swayed enough to change. the weather lately has his general temperature around 80 with a light and under-tank heater. he's eating regularly so i assume he's doing fine. advice? | |

| hey Caroline,
I'm sorry that I didn't catch your post previously but I do not like aspen. I prefer mulch over any of the more dusty beddings. Repti-bark and things of that nature hold humidity better for shedding and comfort. Aspen kicks up too much dust that could possibly cause respiritory infections. Also there is a smaller chance for ingestion with the larger barks.
We will save the breeding advice for a later date but as the little guy gets bigger let us know and keep us updated with pictures.
Thanks Peter VE | |
